PBT YARNS

PBT YARNS

Polybutylene Terephthalate has high elasticity compared to PET and its elastic recovery is better than conventional Polyester yarns. PBT has DTY, POY and fibres in different dtex range.

Polybutylene Terephthalate is a polymer similar to Polyester’s Polyethylene Terephthalate however having distinct morphological properties enabling it to distinguish from Polyester PET in many ways.

Main characteristics of PBT yarns include:

– Superior elasticity and elastic recovery

– Excellent resistance to corrosion and sunlight

– Good dimensional stability

– Soft handle, good anti-pilling and antistatic properties.

Note: PBT yarns also available in POY form. POY yarns are texturised at lower speed compared to FDY, forming a semi-crystal morphology enabling it to further texturise to final DTY form.

PBT POY range available in Raw White and colours.

PBT Yarn Applications

PBT yarns are used in;

– Weaving as weft insertion yarn (non or slight intermingled)

– Weaving as warp yarn (sized or high/strong intermingled)

– Circular knitting, weft knitting and warp knitting

– Narrow weaving and braiding

– Covered yarn applications to fold with Spandex, Lycra, Creora

– PBT yarns are used mainly in stretch required fabrics, in jeans, lingerie, underwear, silk stockings, carpet for pile, sportswear.

Due to their excellent elastic recovery and resistance to corrosion, PBT yarns stand a good chance of being an alternative to elastane/rubber covered yarns in applications where stretch and recovery properties are in high demand.
